Agents + Smash at the Dosu Office: A Super Smash Bros Night for AI Builders
We hosted 50+ people at our San Francisco office for Super Smash Bros, agent chat, and a few throwback consoles. Some AI engineers told us this was the only SF Tech Week event they planned to attend.

On Monday, October 5, we hosted Agents + Smash at our San Francisco office. We wanted a Tech Week kickoff built around competitive games, easy conversation, and a room full of people who build agents for a living.
Over 50 people came to play, including AI engineers from OpenAI, Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, Anduril, Dosu, and many other companies. A good number were star players on their high school or college Smash club teams. What stuck with us most was how many people said they weren't going to any other SF Tech Week event, just ours. They came because they care about Smash and about meeting other engineers who do too.
Blue stickers and a four-player final
Most of the night was free play. Winners of competitive games got a blue sticker, and the four players with the most stickers met in the final. All four brought their own controllers, so the last round was as high-level and competitive as you'd expect.

Players set the rules each round, so the formats kept changing. Away from the Switches, people played the original Super Smash Bros on an N64 and Star Wars Battlefront II on a PS2. Those throwbacks kept the lounge busy between matches.
The final was a blast to watch. Between games, the room kept drifting into conversations about agents and agent memory. A lot of the people there are building agents themselves, and Smash made those conversations easy to start.

Keep the games going
The request we heard most was to keep hosting Smash nights. Some companies run Smash nights for their own employees, but there are few chances to play with engineers from other companies, age groups, and backgrounds.
Next time, we need more consoles. We had five Switches going and still needed help from the community. Players brought their own setups so people they were meeting for the first time could get into a game. That generosity was one of the best parts of the night. We also ran more than an hour past the planned 8 p.m. finish because people were still happy to play and connect.
What's next
We'll keep hosting Super Smash Bros nights at our San Francisco office, open to the public and especially to AI engineers like us.
Thank you to SF Tech Week for getting so many people out exploring events across the city. If you want to partner with us on the next Smash night, we'd love to chat.
